Balranald Motorcycle club was formed in 1997 by a dedicated group of locals who wanted to create a Motor Cross track for the small town of Balranald in south-west NSW.
The club was given access to a patch of dirt 4km from town by the local council and set about creating what is widely considered one of the best country tracks in the nation.
Over the years regular club events, 2-day open events and state regional titles are held at the track attracting up to 80 riders and hundreds of crew and spectators.
The success of the club culminated with several local riders rising to the top of the national rankings, riders such as brothers Ben (3 times national #3) and Nathan Potter (Victorian #1), both ranked #1 in Northern Region in their respective class.
Other riders such as Nathan Purtill, Jack McMahn & Todd Jarrat all ranking highly with the track rated very highly in the regional rankings.
As this generation of riders grew up and moved away from the sport, enthusiasm for the club waned and the club went into recess for about three years.
In 2015 a new generation of riders emerged and racing returned in 2016 with memberships now topping 150!
